Parsons’ Identity Solutions Help During Hurricane Helene

The Javelin™ Jump Kit is a compact, light-weight, self-contained, biometric enrollment and identification station. The kit runs the award-winning, industry-leading Ares™ Mobile Biometric Application software and ensures a consistent user experience across the Javelin™ line of biometric collection kits.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, our team supported the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services Division’s critical humanitarian efforts by providing real-time identification of deceased individuals utilizing the company’s Ares Enterprise solution of advanced biometrics hardware and software. Our team was able to provide immediate support to this critical humanitarian effort, demonstrating the company’s ability to effectively advance emergency response initiatives and emphasizing the critical role our technology plays in real-world scenarios while providing closure to families who lost loved ones during the tragedy.

Hurricane Helene, which recently devastated parts of Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, the Carolinas, and Virginia, has left more than 230 people dead since it made landfall on September 27. In the wake of this natural disaster, the need for accurate and timely identification of deceased individuals became paramount. Our cutting-edge biometric technology was instrumental in providing the necessary support to the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services Division, ensuring that the identities of the deceased were confirmed with precision and speed.

Under the scope of its five-year contract with the FBI, which began in April 2021, we provide Ares Mobile Biometric Application (MBA) licenses and hardware to capture biometrics and biographic information. The Ares Enterprise complete solution is compatible with Android, iOS, and Windows-based platforms, ensuring flexibility and wide usability. The FBI’s mobile biometric collection effort, supported by our technology, includes the collection of fingerprints, facial photographs, irises, latent fingerprints, and palm prints.

The Javelin™, a rugged mobile biometric collection platform capable of collecting multi-modal biometrics running the Ares™ Mobile Biometric Application software is demonstrated.

“Our Identity Solutions team is committed to leveraging technology to support critical missions and humanitarian efforts,” said Ashley Thompson, Technical Director and Sr. Software Engineer at Parsons. “We are honored to have been able to assist the FBI in such a meaningful way, bringing closure to families affected by this tragic event.”

Our biometric solutions are designed to deliver reliable and efficient identification services in a variety of challenging environments. This recent deployment underscores our capability to support emergency response efforts and highlights the importance of our technology in real-world applications.
