Engineering, Security Operations

Our team is leading the Air Base Air Defense (ABAD) contract team to design, mature, procure, integrate, operate, and maintain Air Base Air Defense systems across the European and African areas of responsibility for the U.S. Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) and Air Forces Africa (AFAFRICA). Work for this 10-year, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) effort is being performed at Ramstein Air Base, Germany and multiple locations across Europe and the continental U.S.

Scope Of Work

Our team focuses on the maturation of an all-domain system of systems that leverages the integration of prototype systems, mature U.S. and European partner air defense capabilities, and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS)/government off-the-shelf (GOTS) hardware and software at multiple classification levels and partner nation releasability.

We touch every aspect of the all-domain battlespace, from space operations to edge computing and full-spectrum cyber to ground-based command and control systems.

In partnership with USAFE and MIT-Lincoln Labs, the ABAD team established the Ramstein Air Defense Systems Integration Lab (RADSIL) to integrate a full-range of prototype and operationally mature U.S. and NATO partner nation air surveillance capabilities to support advanced cruise missile and uncrewed aerial system (UAS) detection and defeat. The RADSIL maintains a robust cybersecurity risk mitigation posture with a full Authority to Operate (ATO) and Department of Defense certified Cross Domain Solution high-speed guards.

The Parsons-Led ABAD Team

The Parsons-led ABAD team includes active subcontract partnerships with Solipsys, Trident Systems, Mercury Systems, Everfox (Forcepoint), Cloud Juncxion, and DRS-RADA; with additional teaming agreements with industry leading partners such as Leidos, Science Applications International Corp (SAIC), SRC, Inc., Stellar Solutions, CUBRC, Darkblade, Leonardo, ELTA North America, Capstone Research, and Black River Systems. Additional industry teaming with Teledyne FLIR, Microsoft, RADA, Liteye, FORTEM, and Rafael will enable us to leverage cutting edge air and missile defense detection, identification, and defeat technologies.

Additional Task Orders: Consolidating Capabilities And Increasing Security

We are also responsible for the operational deployment of ABAD technical baseline capabilities matured within the RADSIL, establishing an ABAD training capability, managing the ABAD technical baseline with traditional and model-based systems engineering, and deploying Europe’s first multi-nation tactical air defense Early Warning Capability.

JADC2

Additionally, we have been tasked with focusing on the procurement, integration, testing, and training for a country-specific air and missile early warning and track correlation architecture. Our team will integrate U.S., NATO, and host nation-supplied battlespace awareness and air defense capabilities to directly support ongoing security assistance activities and enhance partner nation air and missile defense capabilities within the U.S. Air Forces in Europe area of operations.

Partnering With The U.S. Airforce At Ramstein Air Base

“The rapid evolution of the global threat environment demands that our innovations continue delivering flexible solutions to help ensure force protection,” said Mike Kushin, president of Defense and Intelligence for Parsons. “Together with the Air Force, we continue to imagine the next phase of scalable, responsive, all-domain air base defense systems to quickly detect, alert, deny, and defeat threats.”

Transforming The Battlespace

We operate in every aspect of the all-domain battlespace and addresses emerging threats by fusing technologies across the now-connected warfighting domains (land, air, sea, space, cyberspace) and incorporates information operations, intelligence, data analytics, electronic warfare, multi-echelon command and control, and kinetic operations into a unified approach.
