Switches

We offer small modular customizable antenna switches for a variety of applications. These include low SWAP modules for vehicular DF systems or rack-mount equipment for test systems. We also offer switches with multiple inputs and outputs for RF Distribution. The switches incorporate a proprietary linear amplifier design for high-dynamic range and provide a nominal gain of 0 dB.

The SP-4208 4×8 HF RF switch is a nonblocking switch that provides functionality from 0.5 to 300 MHz. The switch provides excellent intermodulation and noise performance and is ideal for use in systems with low-noise amplifiers.

Each RF input is routed through a high dynamic range amplifier and then through an eight-way splitter. An array of switches allow any of the four inputs to be routed to one or more of the eight outputs. The unit includes an LED matrix to show switch configuration on the front panel.

SP-4316 20-6000 MHz 4×8 RF Switch with Display

The SP-4316 8×16 RF switch is a nonblocking switch that provides functionality from 20 to 6000 MHz. Each RF input routes through a cascade of high dynamic range proprietary-balanced amplifiers and broadband splitters. The RF inputs can be performance optimized to support 20 to 3000 MHz, 500 to 6000 MHz, or the entire 20 to 6000 MHz frequency range. An array of switches allows any of the eight inputs to route to one or more of the 16 outputs.

The RF switch includes a front-panel interface to control or show status of the RF switches. A no front-panel option is also available. There is space for optional bias Ts and a dedicated power supply that would allow the SP-4316 to power Tower Mount Amplifiers connected to the RF inputs.

SP-4342 20-6000 MHz 2×4 RF Switch

The SP-4342 2×4 RF switch is a nonblocking switch that provides functionality from 20 to 6000 MHz and is LAN controlled. Each input can be configured to support 20–3000 MHz or 800–6000 MHz. The switch provides excellent intermodulation and noise performance and is ideal for use in systems with low-noise amplifiers.

The switch is specifically designed to integrate with the SP-1342 four-channel 10-gigabit Ethernet (10GE) receiver. The combination of the SP-4342 and SP-1342 provide a high-performance, low-cost antenna to digital IF over 10GE solution.

RF/IF Distribution Units

These units have signal and overload indicators and are controllable via Ethernet or the front panel. They offer configurable frequency ranges for optimal performance.

SP-4201 5–100 MHz 4×4 IF Distribution

The SP-4201 is a low-distortion IF distribution amplifier with coverage from 5 to 100 MHz. It includes quad one-to-four distribution channels with independent gain control, signal present indicator, and overload indicator in a 1U full-rack chassis with Ethernet 10/100 Base-T control. Gain control is from -10 db to +10 db in 0.5 db steps. Maximum output drive is nominally 1-V RMS into 50 ohms.

SP-2601 RF Distribution System

The SP-2601 is a complete modular RF distribution system that can support up to six multichannel antenna arrays and up to 56 receivers (45 DF and 11 Intercept). Frequencies from 0.5 MHz to 6.5 GHz are supported. For all bands with the exception HF, nine element arrays are supported: eight DF elements and one Intercept element. For HF, a 10-element array is supported with the 10th element used for both DF and Intercept. The modular design of the SP-2601 allows additional frequency band to easily be accommodated.

SP-4203-1 4×4 Flexible IF Distribution Amplifier

The SP-4203-1 is a 4×4 IF Distribution Amplifier provides the isolation and linear amplification required for distributing 70 MHz, 140 MHz, 160 MHz, and 1 GHz IF signals. It can be fitted with various distribution channels to offer choices of frequency coverage and bandwidth. Channels can be populated with a 5-210 MHz module, ideal for 70-160 MHz IFs, or a 25-1500 MHz module, ideal for 1 GHz IFs. The SP-4203-1 provides front-panel read-out of channel gain setting.

SP-2604 RF Conditioning Units and Fiber Optic Link

The SP-2604 is a family of RF conditioning units (RCUs) designed specifically for multichannel Direction Finding (DF) and Beam Forming applications where coax cable runs are impractical. The units support three sets of eight DF channels as well as three intercept channels. The SP-2604 RCUs are packaged in a custom ruggedized EMI tight enclosure that meets MIL-STD-810 and RTCA/DO-160 environmental requirements.

Multicoupler Frames

We offer a number of Multicoupler frames to hold and power our Multicoupler modules. Each of these frames accept AC power and provide the DC power needed for the modules. Many of these frames also supply bias power on the RF input connector for tower-mounted equipment.

SP-4211 Multicoupler Frame

The SP-4320 is a 1U 19” rack-mounted frame for one or two SP-4709 4-way couplers. An internal power supply provides 24VDC LNA power. The frame may be purchased with or without the SP-4709 multicouplers.

The SP-4320 also includes a controller to allow either LAN or RS-232 control of a remote SP-4711 family LNA. The controller can manage and monitor the operation of the remote LNA over an LC-type fiber-optic interface.

The SP-4322 is a 1U 19” rack-mounted frame that includes a 24 VDC power supply to remotely power an SP-1394 subsystem and space for optional SP-4709 multicouplers. The SP-4322 also includes a controller to allow LAN or RS-232 control of SP-1394 DC power and a remote SP-4711 family LNA. The controller can manage and monitor the operation of the remote LNA over an LC-type fiber-optic interface.

Designed to be antenna post-mounted, the unit provides high linearity, low-noise amplification for signal-collection applications involving long cable runs. Each of the two channels has four filtered inputs with independent gain controls for each band. A high-performance quadraplexer combines the four bands into one 120 MHz to 6 GHz output.
