Parsons Celebrates Groundbreaking for Centennial Corridor Mainline in Bakersfield, CA
Parsons was honored to join officials from the City of Bakersfield, Kern County, Caltrans, and the Kern Council of Governments to break ground for the Centennial Corridor Mainline in Bakersfield, CA, on June 12, 2019. As the last and largest element of the Thomas Roads Improvement Program, this project will construct the new freeway mainline between Highway 99 and the Westside Parkway.
Known as TRIP, the Thomas Roads Improvement Program is a 14-mile long corridor of improvements which include arterial street and interchange improvements located to the west of downtown Bakersfield, and freeway extension, widening, and interchange improvements to the east of downtown Bakersfield. Parsons has served as program manager for several TRIP-related projects since 2006 and is Designer of Record.
As a cooperative effort between the City of Bakersfield, Kern County, Caltrans, and the Kern Council of Governments, the program is named in honor of former Congressman William M. Thomas who secured funding for the project.
