PASADENA, CA (February 2, 2017) – Parsons has been awarded a competitively bid task order for the second increment of the Lebanon Border Security Project. It builds upon Parsons’ current Increment I project to improve the capabilities of the Lebanese Armed Forces to deter, detect, and interdict weapons of mass destruction and related materials on the country’s 233-mile border with Syria.
The focus of Increment II is border surveillance for land border regiments, delivering new equipment, network integration of border-security surveillance equipment, equipment-related training, and concept-of-operations-related training to enhance capabilities in command and control, communications, surveillance, and detection and interdiction of weapons of mass destruction. Parsons will also help the Lebanese Armed Forces sustain and build upon these capabilities for the long term.
This award continues Parsons’ direct support of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency’s (DTRA’s) important mission to secure Lebanon’s border with Syria, as well as the company’s partnership with the Government of Lebanon and the Lebanese Armed Forces.
“This important task order directly contributes to making the world a safer place,” stated Carey Smith, Parsons Federal Group President. “We are excited to continue supporting DTRA in its mission to reduce the threat posed by weapons of mass destruction.”
This task order was awarded under the DTRA Cooperative Threat Reduction Integrating Contract II (CTRIC II). Parsons has successfully executed projects under the Cooperative Threat Reduction Program over the past 20 years, including projects in Russia, Armenia, Georgia, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Ukraine, and most recently off the coast of Syria.
