Parsons Wins Four MEED Quality Awards for Projects 2016

PASADENA, CA (March 29, 2016) – Parsons is pleased to announce that four of its projects have been honored as part of the Middle East Economic Digest’s (MEED’s) Quality Awards for Projects 2016, which recognize companies that are raising the standard for quality in project execution across the region. Judging criteria cover economic and social impact, environmental impact, and engineering, design, and construction achievements.

“Parsons is honored that four of our projects were recognized by MEED with quality awards,” said Gary Adams, Parsons Group President. “These projects exemplify Parsons’ core value of quality.”

The Dubai Creek Crossing, Seventh Crossing (Bur Dubai side) project won the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Road/Bridge/Tunnel Project of the Year award, and Parsons provided design and construction supervision services. A uniquely challenging aspect of this project—owned by Roads & Transport Authority—was successfully relocating the existing Maktoum bridge piers.

The Etihad Rail Stage 1 project won the UAE Rail Project of the Year award, and Parsons—in a joint venture with AECOM—provided project management (PM) services for Stage 1, which was delivered on schedule. Etihad Rail, the UAE’s national railway network, is a 1,200‑km freight and passenger railway network that will serve the entire UAE and form part of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) rail system connecting the UAE to Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait. The project owner is Etihad Rail PSJC.

The IRENA Headquarters—owned by Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company—won the UAE Sustainable Project of the Year award, and Parsons provided PM services for the project under a design-build contract. This facility is a sustainability model in the GCC and the first in the UAE to achieve a four-pearl Estidama construction rating.

Qatar’s Hamad International Airport Passenger Terminal Complex—Retail/Food and Beverage Fit-out Construction project won the Retail Project of the Year award, and Parsons provided design and construction supervision services. This project—owned by New Doha International Airport Steering Committee—was delivered to the highest standards possible and integrates seamlessly within the terminal.
