Webinar | Thermal Remediation Design And Performance In Complex Source Zones

May 13 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm EDT
Webinar

Join us on May 13, 2026 for a technical webinar regarding Thermal Remediation Design And Performance In Complex Source Zones.

Background/Objectives

This webinar reviews thermal remediation technologies, specifically electrical resistance heating (ERH) and thermal conduction heating (TCH), highlighting in situ and ex situ applications. It focuses on technical criteria for applying thermal methods to complex source zones and discusses key design considerations, comparisons with alternative remedies, and cost analysis.

Approach/Activities

TRS Group (TRS), a Parsons company, uses thermal and three-dimensional models to support technology selection and develop heating system designs. This presentation summarizes ongoing research and development efforts to advance thermal technology applications. The webinar will highlight the effectiveness of thermal remediation in lithologic and hydrogeologic conditions, including low permeability soils and bedrock.

Results/Lessons Learned

The webinar will include case studies and discuss the lessons learned from more than 200 projects implemented worldwide over 25 years. The presenters will summarize key outcomes, including mass removal, achieved temperatures, vapor and liquid treatment performance, soil and groundwater results, and how those results have informed optimization of thermal models, design assumptions, and operational strategies.

Presenters

CAMERON QUICK Cam is a TRS project engineer supporting the design and development of thermal remediation projects worldwide. Cam earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Dayton

EMILY CROWNOVER, PHD Emily, a Parsons Fellow, began her research career in 2005. Emily designed, implemented, and optimized thermal remediation systems at sites across the United States and Canada. She manages TRS engineering staff and leads research and development efforts. Emily holds a doctorate in bioengineering from the University of Washington-Seattle.
