This session brings together multiple professionals from the ITS space with experience in telling stories and crafting narratives to communicate complex engineering subjects. During the session, they will discuss how to incorporate storytelling into grant proposals or RFP responses; integrate human-centered principles and narratives into product and systems designs; and ultimately articulate — no matter the size of your established firm or brand-new startup — why what you’re doing truly matters.

Preston Judkins, Parsons: Preston Judkins (PE, PTOE, MBA) is a Traffic Engineer and Project Manager for ITS Projects across the country, as well as signal timing and design. Projects include large scale up to statewide (Michigan, Illinois), Tollways (Indiana, Illinois, Rhode Island), County (Lake County), City (Chicago), and managed lane specific (Michigan, Virginia, Illinois, New York). Areas of expertise include the Signal Coordination and Timing (SCAT) process, ATSPM, signal timing plan development, emergency response plan coordination, Concept of Operations creation, traffic operations, incident management, and software design.
