THE LINE, NEOM’s game-changing urbanization project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is set to provide a revolution in urban living and a blueprint for how people and planet can co-exist in harmony. The sheer scale and ambition of the linear city means that its delivery is one of the most complex challenges of any infrastructure project in the world. Ultimately to be a home for nine million people, THE LINE forms part of the extensive development work already underway at NEOM.
What Is THE LINE?
Built to prioritize the health and well-being of its citizens — with no roads, cars, or emissions — THE LINE’s 170km(105mi)-long linear urban development is a direct response to some of the most pressing challenges facing humanity today, such as legacy infrastructure, pollution, traffic, and human congestion.

Ideally Situated At The Crossroads Of The World
This area is distinguished by dramatic coastline, beautiful beaches and important nature reserves, and extends to NEOM’s south-eastern perimeter, into the islands of the Red Sea and beyond.
The landscape features a relatively flat topography – an ideal blank slate for what will be the major transport crossroads of NEOM. It stretches inland and is located at the axis of THE LINE and the north-south corridor.
Home to Jabal al-Lawz, the almond mountain, the region’s mountainous landscape is also challenging to develop access. It is likely to be the least populated part of NEOM.
Extending into the eastern valley of NEOM beyond the central mountain range and directly connected to Tabuk in the far east, the area, featuring rocking outcrops dotted across sandy plains, offers the opportunity to develop supply chain and logistics connections to the rest of Saudi Arabia and beyond.
