Engineering, Program/Construction Management (PM/CM)

King Salman Park (KSP) is a landmark urban development project and a key project under Saudi Arabia’s national transformation program – Vision 2030. Based in Riyadh, KSP is one of the world’s largest urban parks, spanning 16.9 square kilometers on the site of the former King Salman Air Base. The development will comprise over 1 million trees, more than 150 attractions, and welcome up to 50 million visitors annually. Supporting Saudi Vision 2030’s Quality of Life Program, this flagship giga project is transforming the heart of Riyadh through green infrastructure, smart mobility, and urban regeneration.

Parsons are serving as the Program Management Office (PMO) Consultant, driving delivery across engineering, procurement, construction, and post-construction phases.

Parsons has been involved across the full project lifecycle, transforming the vision of KSP into a world-class urban destination. As PMO Consultant, we provide oversight and coordination across multiple disciplines to support successful project delivery, applying proven program management methodologies that align stakeholders and schedules across complex interfaces within KSP.

Project Highlights

  • 16.9 km² urban development footprint
  • 11.6 km² of green space
  • 1 million trees planned
  • 50 million annual visitors forecast
  • 150+ recreational and cultural attractions
  • 10 million m² of built-up area
  • 5 metro stations and 10 bus stations serving the development

Sustainability and Environmental Stewardship

Beyond creating a new public destination, King Salman Park’s vast green landscape is designed to strengthen Riyadh’s climate resilience, providing shade and coolness while supporting biodiversity and helping mitigate the impacts of climate change.

  • Green Space: King Salman Park spans more than 17.2 km² in the heart of Riyadh. More than 70% of the 17.2 km² development is allocated to green space.
  • Water Management: 100% of the park’s irrigation demand will be supplied through Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE), reducing reliance on potable water sources and supporting the project’s long-term water sustainability objectives.
  • Diverse Landscaping: The landscape is designed to incorporate more than 1 million trees and 20 million plants.
  • Locally Sourced Materials: The park’s 17 km of mechanically stabilized earth retaining walls use 122,500 tons of locally sourced Riyadh stone, helping shape valleys, hills and plateaus inspired by the Najd landscape.
  • Energy Efficiency: The park’s centralized district-cooling system is designed to replace hundreds of individual air-conditioning units, reducing energy consumption, operating costs and the project’s carbon footprint.
