From Intern To Full Time: A Symphony Of Design, Innovation And Learning

Parsons Saudi Engineers

Estimated reading time: 4 minutes

“Music is liquid architecture; Architecture is frozen music,” is one of my favorite quotes by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The parallels between both disciplines have always appealed to me – the harmonious blend of aesthetic and function that transform human ideas into enduring structures. This poetic idea sparked my passion for architecture and engineering early on. Hailing from both Saudi and Egyptian roots, I have always been surrounded by extraordinary examples of cultural, historical achievements; from the timeless grandeur of the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt to the sleek modernity of Kingdom Tower in Saudi Arabia. These structures are more than engineering marvels, they are powerful symbols of history and human ambition.

I knew early on I wanted to bring the buildings of tomorrow to life, while preserving and honoring the ideas of yesterday. This is what ultimately inspired me to become an engineer and join Parsons, a company where I could contribute to building and transforming city skylines.

My Journey From Intern To Professional

While studying at the American University of Sharjah in the UAE, I had the opportunity to intern with Parsons. This is where I observed how the symphony of design and innovation come together to create world-class buildings that shape the future of the GCC. Through my internship, I was privileged to review and work on a large Master Planning and Design Services project, deepening my understanding of how advanced engineering and thoughtful design are intertwined.

Career Growth At Parsons

After graduating, I joined Parsons full time as an Associate in Saudi Arabia, a role filled with hands on experience and learning opportunities. I’ve been fortunate to contribute to some amazing and transformative projects, in fields such as urban development, entertainment, leisure and hospitality that reflect Saudi Arabia’s ambition. Parsons has provided me with incredible career growth , and with each project, I’ve advanced not only in my responsibilities but also in my confidence, gaining valuable experience and skills. I’ve been promoted from an Associate to a Junior position, and most recently to Executive Assistant supporting the Executive Director of Delivery for a large entertainment project in Saudi Arabia.

What It Mean To Be A Part Of Parsons In Saudi Arabia

Group of Parsons Saudi Engineers

As a young Saudi Arabian woman in this industry, I carry more than just my qualifications. I carry the possibility of change and progress. I’ve been inspired by the women who came before me, and now I hope to become a source of inspiration for those who will follow. My presence in rooms, once closed to women, is already progress, and I strive to demonstrate that with confidence, professionalism and humility. I want younger Saudi Arabian women to know they don’t have to choose between tradition and ambition; they can carry both, with grace and strength.

I am driven by the belief that tradition and ambition can coexist in harmony. My career in this field is fueled by a desire to create designs that resonate like music—blending beauty and functionality into structures that stand as lasting symbols of innovation and progress. At Parsons, I’ve found a platform to turn this vision into reality, contributing to transformative projects that not only shape skylines but also inspire future generations of women to pursue their dreams.
