Parsons Awarded Small Satellite Launch Integration Contract

Will Support U.S. Air Force Mission Expanding Access to Space

CENTREVILLE, VA (March 12, 2019) – Parsons today affirmed the award announced on February 8, 2019 by the U.S. Air Force (USAF) Space and Missile Systems Center’s (SMC) Launch Enterprise Directorate to serve as the Launch Manifest Systems Integrator (LMSI) prime contractor. The LMSI will develop and deliver multi-manifest small satellite payload carriers and integration solutions to operationalize access-to-space for USG-owned and sponsored small satellite systems.

“Our U.S. Air Force customer is a leading voice in the call for responsive space and the potential for exponentially increased access made possible by advances in the capabilities of affordable small satellites,” said Carey Smith, Parsons chief operating officer. “Parsons and its team will deliver capabilities and integration approaches that establish U.S. government enterprise-wide capability for small satellite delivery to space”

The LMSI contract award to Parsons supports firm fixed price delivery of multi-manifest carriers and mission integration for U.S. government launch missions and includes a contract ceiling of approximately $100M, and a period of performance of up to 5 years.

A USAF study of U.S. government agencies’ potential small satellite and payload requirements between 2018—2025 identified over 150 individual satellite, constellations or mission needs. Global small satellite market forecasts include projections of national security, earth observation, weather, communications and other applications totaling over 6000 small satellites to be launched by 2027.

Team Parsons includes industry leading partners Adaptive Launch Solutions, Inc, Tyvak Nanosatellite Solutions, Inc. and Moog, Inc. in order to deliver unmatched multi-manifest payload interface options to flexibly meet multi-manifesting launch requirements.
