Parsons’ BWI Airport Midfield Cargo Apron Improvements Project Honored by International Partnering Institute
Parsons recently won the International Partnering Institute’s (IPI) 2018 John L. Martin Partnered Project of the Year Award for our work on the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) Midfield Cargo Apron improvement project. The project won the Ruby Award in the civil construction category for projects valued at less than $25 million.
We provided construction management inspection services to the Maryland Department of Transportation and the Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA) for the project, which involved providing three additional cargo aircraft parking positions for the midfield cargo area. Working with a contractor, a designer, and a partnering facilitator, the team demonstrated successful partnering by completing the project within 107 days of MAA executing this 145-day construction contract, while overcoming immediate mobilization and aggressive schedule challenges.
IPI’s Partnered Project of the Year Award is given to projects that best exemplify the principles of partnering to transform the construction industry and achieve exceptional results through a culture of collaboration.
