SUMMARY:Webinar | Management Of PFAS And Other Emerging Contaminants Using Catalyzed UV Technology
DESCRIPTION:Background/Objectives\nPer- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) remain difficult to manage because conventional treatment often concentrates rather than destroys contamination. Catalyzed UV technology was developed to provide destructive treatment\, using UV-activated photocatalysis and photoreactor design to convert PFAS-associated organic fluorine to inorganic fluoride. This webinar highlights progress from bench-scale chemistry toward scalable treatment trains for PFAS and other emerging organic contaminants in real-world matrices. \nApproach/Activities\nPhotoreactor geometry and chemistry have been optimized\, and Catalyzed UV technology has advanced from benchtop operation toward a 10 liter per hour floor-scale system. Testing evaluated PFAS destruction across compound classes\, pH conditions\, inorganic and organic co-contaminants\, industrial wastewater\, aqueous film-forming foam reinstates\, and PFAS-enriched regenerants. Sorbent concentration/regeneration and tunable oxidation/reduction modes have also been evaluated to support practical treatment-train design. \nResults/Lessons Learned\nResults demonstrate broad PFAS applicability and confirm that kinetics and operating conditions are compound- and matrix-dependent. Catalyzed UV technology has achieved significant PFAS destruction in landfill leachate\, PFAS-enriched regenerant\, and complex wastewater\, as will be demonstrated by case studies. Tunable oxidizing and reducing modes also broaden application to other emerging and legacy organic contaminants. \nPresenter \nNatalia O’Connor Natalia is a research and development scientist with experience in PFAS remediation. She has six years of experience in environmental research and development\, focusing on the characterization and destruction of organic pollutants\, including PFAS \nMicrosoft Teams Meeting\nJoin on your computer\, mobile app or room device: Click here to join the meeting.\nMeeting ID: 280 888 328 545 56\nPasscode: kU9ZF9HK \nPlease visit the Parsons YouTube channel where video recordings of our previous\ntechnical webinars are available for viewing.

SUMMARY:Webinar | Development And Validation Of PFAS Analytical Methods For Characterization Of Complex Matrices
DESCRIPTION:Join us on July 8th\, 2026 for a technical webinar regarding Development And Validation Of PFAS Analytical Methods For Characterization Of Complex Matrices. \nBackground/Objectives\nPer- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) occur in a wide range of environmental and industrial matrices\, but conventional analytical methods can be difficult to apply to complex samples\, particularly at low concentrations and in the presence of significant matrix interferences. This presentation reviews the technical challenges associated with PFAS characterization and examines the need for complementary methods that expand beyond targeted mass spectrometric analysis and reduce analytical turnaround time. \nApproach/Activities\nThis presentation summarizes several in-house analytical methods developed to support rapid PFAS screening\, including the colorimetric active surfactant (CAS) assay\, the ultraviolet-reducible organic fluorine (UV-ROF) assay\, and a UV-activated total oxidizable precursors (TOP) assay. Topics include method development\, validation against commercial methods such as Environmental Protection Agency Method 1633 and adsorbable organic fluoride (AOF) analysis\, and sample preparation strategies to address matrix complexity and concentration-dependent analytical limitations. \nResults/Lessons Learned\nThe results show that indirect screening methods can provide useful PFAS characterization across complex matrices when supported by appropriate pre-processing and quality assurance measures. Key lessons include the importance of managing matrix interferences\, matching sample concentration to the method’s linear range through dilution or pre-concentration\, and using rapid in-house screening to prioritize samples for external laboratory analysis. These methods can support faster\, lower-cost decision-making while expanding data coverage for PFAS investigations. \nPresenters\nDAVID PATCH\, PhD David is an analytical chemist with experience in both academic and industrial professional environments. He has six years of experience in environmental research and development\, specializing in the analysis of legacy and emerging contaminants. \nNATALIA O’CONNOR Natalia is a research and development scientist with experience in PFAS\nremediation. She has six years of experience in environmental research and development\, focusing on the characterization and destruction of organic pollutants\, including PFAS. \nTo Join The Webinar\nJoin on your computer\, mobile app or room device: \nClick here to join the meeting.\nPhone Conference ID: 284 815 940 467 73 \nPasscode: yC7De9qa \nPlease visit the Parsons YouTube channel where video recordings of our previous\ntechnical webinars are available for viewing.

SUMMARY:Case Studies Demonstrating The Outcome Of Integrating Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Into Conceptual Site Models
DESCRIPTION:Join us on June 10\, 2026 for a technical webinar regarding Case Studies Demonstrating The Outcome Of Integrating Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Into Conceptual Site Models  \nBackground/Objectives\nFor complex sites\, significant characterization may be required to develop a robust understanding of the chemical distribution within heterogeneous media\, identify preferential flow paths\, estimate chemical transport rates\, and define treatment zones for remedies. High-resolution site characterization (HRSC) tools can provide rapid\, field-based\, high-density data to enable more effective development of the conceptual site model (CSM). \nApproach/Activities\nNuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) is an HRSC tool that has recently been adapted for use at contaminated sites to collect high-resolution hydrogeologic data. Several case studies where NMR has been applied at contaminated sites with varying geology and wide-ranging objectives will be presented to demonstrate the advantages of using NMR for HRSC supported CSM development. \nResults/Lessons Learned\nThe case studies demonstrate that NMR provided hydrogeologic insights that were not readily resolved through conventional methods alone. NMR data helped identify preferential flow intervals\, support well screen placement\, estimate relative hydraulic conductivity\, and evaluate mobile water in the vadose zone. These applications improved subsurface interpretation\, reduced uncertainty in the CSM\, and provided a stronger technical basis for investigation planning and remedial design. \nPresenters\nKARLA LESLIE\, PhD\, PG Karla is a subject matter expert in environmental remediation\, specializing in CSM development\, high-resolution site characterization\, geochemistry\, and microbiology for the development\, design\, implementation\, and optimization of innovative remedial strategies. \nTODD BELANGER  Todd is a hydrogeologist and PFAS subject matter expert specializing in site-specific CSM development using regional geology\, hydrogeology\, environmental sequence stratigraphy\, 3D geologic modeling\, and data visualization to support complex environmental investigations. \nTo Join The Webinar\nJoin on your computer\, mobile app or room device: \nClick here to join the meeting.\nPhone Conference ID: 267 606 688 341 27\nPasscode: yL9YN7EY \nPlease visit the Parsons YouTube channel where video recordings of our previous\ntechnical webinars are available for viewing
