A Symbol of Change and Development

The State of Qatar’s commitment to infrastructure improvement is evidenced by the execution of large-scale projects across both the public and private sectors, ranging from constructing roads and buildings to developing ports and refurbishing pumping stations.

In 2011—and with years of experience performing projects in Qatar and throughout the Middle East Africa region—Parsons was awarded a consultancy services contract for refurbishing and upgrading 27 pumping stations and 15 rising mains in Doha, Qatar’s capital and most populous city. The Public Works Authority (PWA) selected us based on our extensive project and construction management capabilities and our experience handling similar projects. Our capabilities in all of the program’s required engineering disciplines were also key to our selection. Under the consultancy services contract, we were responsible for:

  • Design reviews
  • Construction supervision and overall project management
  • Project controls
  • As-built and operations/maintenance support
  • Handover and closeout

The refurbishing and upgrading program—a symbol of change and development and an essential element of Qatar’s infrastructure improvement vision—included four stand-alone construction projects, each comprising four to seven pumping stations (27 pumping stations in all) in and around Doha. Parsons is pleased to have assisted the PWA in delivering and managing this program, a step toward fulfilling the promise of Qatar National Vision 2030.
