This presentation will describe the critical need for the effective cleanout of aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF) and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substance (PFAS) residues from both mobile and fixed firefighting apparatus. As PFAS poses significant environmental and health risks, mitigating their presence is paramount.
The PerfluorAd™ process for the efficient removal of AFFF and PFAS residues will be discussed, ensuring the health and safety of firefighting personnel, the public, and environment. To date, this method has been used on more than 200 firefighting vehicles and fixed systems in Europe and the United States and for treatment of more than 13 million gallons of PFAS-impacted water.
By examining experience, challenges, best practices, and emerging solutions, valuable insights will be offered into safeguarding public health and environmental sustainability within firefighting operations. This presentation will cover AFFF cleanout and rinsate treatment results, focusing on efforts to minimize the expense. Project examples will be discussed and results presented.
