WEBINAR | Facility Condition Assessment In A Box: Ready-Made Solutions for Holistically Managing and Optimizing Capital Asset Portfolios

Background/Objectives

Facility condition assessment (FCA) is the process of developing a comprehensive technical evaluation of physical conditions and functional performance of assets (buildings, infrastructure, machines, and equipment); analyzing the results of data collection and observations; and reporting and presenting findings. The objective of this webinar is to provide an overview of the technical elements, considerations, and value of performing FCAs to effectively plan and budget for capital projects and deferred maintenance.

Approach/Activities

The key components, tools, and considerations for performing FCAs will be presented along with guidelines to report assessment findings and make a persuasive engineering case for capital renewal and deferred maintenance.​ The importance of promoting technical collaboration across facility groups will be discussed along with how the results of the FCA can be used for data-driven decision making that aligns with the overarching facility objectives.

Results/Lessons Learned

We’ll present a case study from The University Of California FCA that demonstrates how an assessment and integration of deferred maintenance and improvements was developed into a cohesive, consistent and auditable capital plan across multiple facilities and regions.

Hayden Collins, EdD, PhD – Dr. Collins is a Facility Analyst and Project Manager for Parsons Capital Projects Team. He has over 20 years experience conducting facility assessments, developing capital renewal and long-term budgetary projections, and improving facility operations.
