PASADENA, CA (March 10, 2015) – Parsons Vice President of Sustainability, David Carlson, participated in the official launch of the Smarter DC Challenge on March 4, 2015. The Smarter DC Challenge is a citywide initiative for businesses and nonprofit organizations to create their own sustainability programs and participate in a spirited sustainability challenge. The event drew more than 185 attendees, including Mayor Muriel Bowser and senior officials from her office as well as leaders from local businesses and nonprofits.

Next month, Parsons will publish its annual corporate social responsibility report. The report, titled People, Planet, Progress, includes examples of sustainability in the corporation’s projects, areas where Parsons has achieved the greatest impact in providing innovative sustainable solutions to its customers—as well as the corporation’s efforts to make its overall operations even more sustainable, reduce its environmental/energy footprints, and manage its carbon intensity.
Backed by the DC government, the Smarter DC Challenge is an impact-focused competition that works with local organizations and their employees to reduce environmental impacts while saving money and driving positive business results.
