WATER SUPPLY AND PIPELINES
Parsons experience surveying, routing, engineering, designing, and constructing steel and concrete pipelines includes work on most continents and many thousands of miles of pipe laid over the most difficult terrain. Pipeline systems to transport water, petroleum products, gas/gas liquids, and solid slurries have been designed and constructed to feed cities, industrial complexes, military facilities, airports, and marine terminals with a controlled, enclosed, steady supply of the pipeline product.
Parsons has extensive analytical and design experience in all pipeline technical issues including pressure surge protection, two-phase flow liquid slug/holdup analysis, slug catcher sizing and stress design, leak detection technology, corrosion protection systems, pigging applications, and operational and safety control technology. Gas and liquid gathering and transmission pipeline systems are computer analyzed to ensure configurations that are optimized for initial and operating costs. Parsons uses proven pipeline computer analysis techniques to provide safe, reliable, and economically optimized system designs.
- Inland Feeder, Metropolitan Water District of Southern California: Program management of 25 miles of 12-foot buried pipeline and 18 miles of 14-foot-diameter tunnel to deliver up to 650 million gallons of water per day to Southern California (construction cost $950 million).
- Treatment and Transmission Facility, Southern Nevada Water Authority: planning, design management, and construction management of new system to convey water from Lake Mead to Las Vegas.
- Trans-Alaska Pipeline, Alyeska Pipeline Service Company: Preparation of as-built electrical and instrumentation drawings and automated operations and maintenance documents for an 800-mile pipeline, pump stations, and the Valdez Terminal.
- Defense Fuel Supply Center, U.S. Army Engineers Division, Huntsville: Aerial and ground pipeline surveys, pipeline alignment drawings, terminal facility drawings, and operations and maintenance manuals for 12 Department of Defense fuel depots and supply pipelines nationwide.
- Yanbu Industrial City Infrastructure Pipelines. Technical and management responsibility for all facilities and systems to the site boundaries of the industrial users.
