Project Description
Parsons is providing Quality Assurance Oversight and Audit Services and Operations and Maintenance Safety Certification to Nashville Regional Transportation Authority for this new start Commuter Rail System.
As the Consultant Quality Assurance Manager, Parsons is responsible for Quality Assurance review and oversight from preliminary design stage through procurement and construction of the new start commuter rail line, including track, stations, signaling, facility and vehicles in meeting the Federal Transportation Authority (FTA) requirements to support federal funding. This also includes the development of the FTA Compliant Operations and Maintenance Safety and Security Certification.
Rail vehicle designs are reviewed for inspection and running repair requirements. Some key activities assessed are:
- in-place inspection of locomotive and car components,
- review of major repair procedures,
- review rolling stock daily inspection procedures,
- review external and internal cleaning procedures,
- review specialized equipment for repair of wheels, axles, bearings, gear boxes, pneumatic and electro pneumatic air brake components, motive power, generator, alternator, and air conditioning equipment.
Systems are reviewed for Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) compliance and measured against the capabilities of the vehicles that Parsons selected for Nashville RTA to start this new commuter rail line to ensure full and safe integration between the vehicle, wayside communications and signaling.
