Project Description
MTA-New York City Transit (NYCT) selected Parsons to provide engineering support services to NYCT during the source selection and implementation phase of the Public Address/Customer Information Screen System (PA/CIS).
The PA/CIS - Phase II Project is to provide audio and visual messaging for 156 Interborough Rapid Transit (IRT) passenger stations. In addition to public address and customer information screen functionality, 10 of the 156 passenger stations will also receive Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), Help Point Intercoms (HPI) and Station Device Management (SDM) functionality. SDM is a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)-like subsystem that provides control and indication functions. The PA/CIS system will receive live train departure information from the Automatic Train Supervision (ATS) systems to provide automatic next train information to passengers. The system connectivity will be provided over the NYCT Synchronous Optical Network/Asynchronous Transfer Mode (SONET/ATM) network for communications. The key services performed by Parsons are comprised of two tasks.
During the first phase, Parsons assisted NYCT in the source selection phase of the PA/CIS Phase II system. Parsons provided assessment and review of technical proposals of all bidders and conducted screening by use of software capability evaluations.
The second phase includes post-award technical support during the design and construction phases. Parsons services consist primarily of project management and hardware and software systems engineering support. Beyond basic functions of the PA/CIS system, Parsons is providing technical support to ensure the proper development and implementation of the interface between the ATS systems and the PA/CIS system. Parsons is providing support for contract data requirements list (CDRL) review, and testing in the supplier’s facility and in-service testing at a minimum of 40 subway stations.
The Parsons Team will provide change, defect tracking, and monitor the system’s performance during the warranty period thru September 2008.
