Condition Inspection and Seismic Analysis

With concern rising about deteriorating infrastructure, inspecting and evaluating the condition of U.S. bridges is a major focus of Parsons’ work today. We provide in-service inspection for all types of bridge projects. In the Pacific Northwest, we provide in-depth inspections of Portland’s St. Johns Bridge and the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. In the Midwest, our annual inspections ensure the safety of the Mackinac Bridge in Michigan, one of the world’s longest bridges, also designed by Parsons. On the East Coast, Parsons’ inspection expertise is demonstrated on the Marine Parkway and Macombs Dam bridges in New York, and three moveable bridges in New Jersey. Being on the leading edge of technology, Parsons’ inspection of the Zilwaukee Bridge near Saginaw, Michigan, was the first time in the U.S. that bridge inspection data was compiled electronically.

Worldwide, Parsons is a recognized leader in the seismic analysis and retrofit of new and existing structures in highly active seismic regions, from the Karnali River region of Nepal to the Carquinez Strait bridges in Crockett, California. We have also conducted seismic analysis of major structures on the East Coast of the U.S., such as New York City’s Madison Avenue and Queensboro bridges.
