Project Profile
Parsons is performing design-build improvements to support the Air Force's antiterrorism and force protection program. The gates of military bases are the first line of defense to secure and protect each installation. Parsons' effort includes design and construction of antiterrorist/force protection upgrades for 23 main entry gates at 10 major Air Mobility Command (AMC) installations throughout the United States.
Each gate is designed to meet specific criteria. All gates require traffic-calming approach paths, vehicle inspection shelters, pass and identification buildings, and retracting vehicle barriers fitted with tire shredders. Specialized security equipment will be standardized across the command and each design will offer future "smart gate" technology.
Work on all entry gates is performed concurrently while maintaining efficient base access. Safety procedures based on the principles established in Parsons' comprehensive Safety and Health Risk Program address simultaneous construction activity and high-volume traffic flow.
Finished facilities will mitigate known and anticipated vulnerabilities and comply with DoD antiterrorism and force protection standards as well as the Air Force Installation Entry Control Facilities Design Guide.
