HARDENED FACILITIES
Parsons is a leader in the design and construction of hardened facilities for clients worldwide. We have experience with both above- and below-ground structures that are resistive to the effects of a variety of explosive devices.
We can provide non-blast-oriented design support in a total package that successfully integrates hardened and non-hardened components. Our experience at military facilities includes design and construction of fully blast resistant operations areas, maintenance areas, repair shops, and barracks. Petroleum, oil, and lubricants are stored in protected underground tanks connected to semihardened fueling stations.
Criteria are specified to protect against the most powerful known conventional weapons. Our military command center designs include burster slabs that will withstand a 500-pound bomb. Parsons-designed air-raid shelters, nuclear, biological, and chemical command facilities are reinforced to withstand the effects of general-purpose bombs and rockets. Other projects include various missile launch complexes, missile silos, and underground missile launch control centers capable of resisting the effects of a nuclear explosion.
