Building a brighter tomorrow

Over 100 Parsons engineers, scientists, and technicians provide operational services at three National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) campuses in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The NETL is owned by the Department of Energy (DOE), and it is our job to design, build, and operate research and development projects in carbon management and energy security. These projects provide crucial analytical, computational, and experimental research and development of energy and environmental technologies. We are in the fourth year of a five-year contract, and we are working to expand our labor force to meet the growing needs of NETL’s research and development mission.

Maintaining the quality of life for generations to come

One of the primary goals of the DOE is to develop new technologies and approaches that ensure the safe, clean, and affordable use of fossil-energy resources in the United States throughout the 21st century. The DOE is striving to meet the nation’s demands for affordable energy without compromising the quality of life for future generations of Americans.

Parsons supports the DOE’s efforts through the following:

  • Carbon dioxide solutions. The increased level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is contributing to global climate change. We are exploring ways of capturing carbon dioxide emitted from power plants and isolating it in the ocean or underground.
  • Environment-friendly solutions. The energy crisis in the United States created a demand for environmentally friendly solutions for producing power. The Power Plant Improvement Initiative is a fast-track designed to test technologies that can be installed on current power plants or designed into new plants to increase the efficiency of these sources, potentially generating more megawatts of electricity from the same amounts of fuel.
  • Oil solutions. Parsons is currently involved in a natural gas research project and the development of cost-effective hydrogen refueling stations.

Delivering the best

Parsons is committed to providing the most highly skilled and experienced employees and to delivering the best service. For our work at NETL, we brought in foreign guest workers with specialized areas of expertise. In addition, we were recognized for our service with the National Safety Council’s Excellence Achievement, Million Work Hour, and Industry Leader awards.
