Cost-effective wastewater management solutions—anywhere in the world

Parsons is a leading provider of industrial wastewater and groundwater treatment engineering and construction services for the chemical/petrochemical; life sciences; food and beverage; and refinery industry.,  Our experience in the life sciences industry is unparalleled, and includes several cutting-edge, first-in-class projects. especially for the life sciences.  Our services include process development, detailed design, construction management, startup and commissioning, and operations. We provide the most technically feasible and economically practical solutions to our strategic customers anywhere in the world.

Industrial wastewater and groundwater treatment that meets your needs

Parsons has extensive experience providing in and is actively pursuing projects which require innovative and cost–effective water treatment solutions to clients in the industrial and industrial remediation sectors. within the food and beverage, metals manufacturing, microelectronics, power, and pulp and paper industries. We also design and construct treatment systems to support large remediation projects for petroleum, chemical, utility, and manufacturing companies.  Some of our examples of industrial wastewater and industrial remediation projects are discussed below:

  • Wyeth, Pharmaceutical Active Ingredients Wastewater Treatment Facility, Design-Build-Operate, Newbridge, Ireland. This is the first treatment system in the world that is designed and constructed specifically to destroy endocrine-disruptive compounds (micro-constituents) that might be found in some pharmaceutical active ingredients. Parsons provided the full range of project services, from process development through detailed engineering, construction management, startup and commissioning, and operations.
  • Confidential Petrochemical Industry, Design and Construction Management, Deep Well Injection Pretreatment System Expansion.  This project is representative of Parsons support of a major remediation project in the petrochemical industry.  Parsons is providing process design and construction management for the expansion of an existing fine filtration, chemical addition, and high pressure liquid injection system to provide 1.5 million gallons/day of highly pretreated recovered industrial water for deep well injection.  The system will include a highly evolved control system and an innovative nitrogen-blanketed brine annulus system to ensure contained injection through an approximate 7,000 ft deep well.
  • Wyeth, Infant Nutritional Wastewater Treatment Systems, Design, China and Philippines. These tandem projects in the food and beverage industrial sector represent the growing market in Asia for wastewater treatment capability. The project in Suzhou, China, is the first major infant nutritionals project for Wyeth in mainland China. The project in Canlubang, the Philippines, is for treatment system expansion that was required because of the growth in demand for infant nutritional products in Southeast Asia.  These projects both employ a highly effective and innovative pretreatment step to remove a significant fraction of the organic load from the influent wastewater which is subsequently treated in a state-of-the-art membrane bioreactor system.
  • Confidential Northeast Utility Company; Former MGP Site Groundwater Containment and Treatment System.  Parsons experience spans active industrial and inactive facilities.  In this project, Parsons is providing a total solution to groundwater containment and treatment from a former Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP).  The treatment system includes the provision for recovering Non-Aqueous Phase Liquid (NAPL) as well as a treatment system for aqueous groundwater that includes metals precipitation and sludge management; fine filtration; organoclay column contact and granular activated carbon adsorption to remove a variety of organic and metallic contaminants at flow rates up to 75 gallons/minute.  Parsons has provided process development; detailed engineering; construction management and operation of this treatment system.
  • Amgen, Wastewater Treatment System, Design and Extended Startup Assistance, Juncos, Puerto Rico. This project creates a flagship biotech manufacturing facility. Biotech is one of the fastest growing and innovative sectors of the life sciences industry. The treatment system design relied on biological and physical chemical treatment methodology that meets the stringent Puerto Rican discharge standards and currently creates an effluent capable of 100% reuse by the manufacturing facility.

Parsons has the professional staff and the resources to help customers maintain compliance with increasingly restrictive—and changing—domestic and international regulations and internally driven corporate standards. We have received numerous corporate and professional awards for projects conducted for Wyeth and Pfizer (Warner Lambert) and are committed to integrating green practices into every project.
