The Caldecott Tunnel involved the construction of a fourth bore through the Berkeley Hills near Oakland, California. We partnered with local and state transportation officials to provide environmental documents and design services for this landmark project.

Many of these projects involve challenging geologic environments, from seismically active Southern California to the Chesapeake Bay’s alluvial littoral. We’ve provided advisory services, performed subway construction, and delivered major underground infrastructure/tunneling projects, including the Southern Nevada Water Authority Lake Mead Intake 2 and 3, the New York Department of Environmental Protection’s Delaware Aqueduct Bypass Tunnel, and the English Channel Tunnel. 

Project Highlight: Dubai Strategic Sewerage Tunnels – Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE)

The Dubai Municipality is working on the Dubai Strategic Sewerage Tunnel project, which entails 75 kilometers of two deep wastewater tunnels, deep pump stations, and 220 kilometers of link sewers. This converts Dubai from a lift station system to a full gravity system. Our scope included updates to the master plan flow forecasts, feasibility studies, preliminary design, and tender preparation. Read more.

Delaware Aqueduct Bypass tunnel project
We delivered the largest repair project ever in New York City’s water supply system for the state’s Delaware Aqueduct Bypass. This ensured that the longest tunnel in the world could continue to deliver water to 9 million New Yorkers.
