As a proactive advocate in the field of education, our commitment is to produce high-quality work, while meeting fast-tracked schedules, without compromising safety. From managing the largest K–12 program in the nation to a small, stand-alone charter school, we allocate the resources required to direct more than $25 billion in planning, design, and construction for K–12 schools. Parsons is the superior choice when it comes to responding to our nation’s call for competitive, state-of-the art K–12 schools.

Transforming existing facilities

As part of the District of Columbia’s modernization program, Parsons was hired to transform the design, construction, and maintenance of Washington, D.C., schools. Our performance-driven, world-class design and construction management experts provided corrective action during school operations and delivered safe, clean, and code-compliant academic and athletic facilities, renovations, additions, and new schools.

Our performance on this modernization project focused on four key elements:

  • Safety protocols
  • Security
  • Protective separation barriers
  • Contractor coordination and supervision

Responding first

Even before the floodwaters of Hurricane Katrina had receded from New Orleans, Parsons delivered disaster recovery projects because our first responders worked 24/7 to reopen 19 public schools in just a matter of days. The Parsons staff overcame severe resource shortages and logistical challenges to make these 19 New Orleans schools safe and functional. Because of our efforts, the schools were able to support their communities again.

The scope of recovery work for the New Orleans public schools incorporates:

  • Disaster assessment and scope development
  • Water extraction, drying, and dehumidification
  • Demolition and environmental remediation of asbestos and mold
  • Repair of damaged building components, systems, and equipment
  • Construction and post-construction testing

Parsons is successfully designing, restoring, and rebuilding K–12 educational facilities because we assign our dedicated professionals to partner with school officials and meet our customers’ requirements.
