Investing in our future

Education plays a critical role in society because of its transformative power. Parsons has provided program and construction management for K–12 schools, community colleges, and universities for more than 40 years. Based on our experience, we have learned how to maximize funding, scheduling, and safety while meeting staffing challenges and the ever-upgraded requirements for design and educational codes—all while supporting the innovations expected in a successful learning environment. We give the public, school boards, districts, teachers, parents, and students the facilities and resources they require to improve their quality of life and build a brighter future.

Establishing best practices

Our customers choose Parsons because we know how to work within their requirements and reduce costs so they can focus on other projects. In fact, Parsons was the first program management team selected for the largest school construction program in U.S. history—the Los Angeles Unified School District’s modernization program.

Our successful Parsons projects are based on the application of our best practices:

  • Advisory boards. We take the initiative to form advisory boards so we remain abreast of ever-evolving customer needs and the impact of their issues. Groups of former superintendents, school board presidents, and other front-line personnel contribute to our R&D and training programs.
  • Research and development. Our dedicated R&D group studies how to improve educational advancement through innovative building principles and how to make high-performance learning space more affordable, energy-efficient, and sustainable. As a result, we understand lighting and acoustics and how they influence teacher and student performance, alertness, and absenteeism.
  • Public outreach. By organizing roundtable discussions, we provide a forum to express the importance of incorporating sustainable designs into institutional construction while serving to inform the public of the costs associated with sustainable modifications.
  • Working within budget. In an effort to respond to demanding budgetary and scheduling constraints, we provide methods for reallocating funding, direct interfacing between management and consultants, and we prepare construction management at-risk requests for proposals on the customer’s behalf.
  • Sustainability. Parsons adds to its projects such sustainable features as rainwater collection systems, construction waste management, occupancy sensors, CO2 monitoring, and the use of products made from recycled materials. We’ve also worked on several LEED-certified projects.

Parsons is a leader in this industry because we know what works, we understand our customers’ requirements, and we team with educational leaders to build facilities that accommodate student potential and future growth.
