Parsons Parsons

Project Description

Parsons designed Building 7 as a production facility of several human therapeutic proteins using recombinant bacterial fermentations. The facility includes fermentation, product harvest under biocontainment standards, and purification to sterile bulk product. The utilities complex is self-contained and includes a water for injection system.

The Epogen manufacturing facility includes unit operations such as fermentation, cell culture, product recovery, and purification to a sterile bulk product. A hot water for injection circulation system was provided.

Parsons designed the facility to meet all current good manufacturing practices requirements for cleanability, sterility control, biocontainment, personnel, material, and product flows. The facilities also provided for environmental control of liquid effluents.
