Project Overview
For centuries, Baghdad was a city of imposing universities, glittering palaces, and stately public structures— today, the country faces a staggering challenge to rebuild its most basic infrastructure.
In March 2004, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers selected Parsons to rebuild facilities in Iraq's buildings, housing, and education sector. Under the design-build contract, Parsons is renovating nearly 1,400 schools, health clinics, and public buildings.
In the first eight months, Parsons completed 13 task orders at more than 170 locations. By the end of 2004, renovation was started on more than 200 schools, five ministry buildings, and construction of 12 new schools.
Parsons’ ability to rapidly ramp-up operations in a dangerous, contingency-laden environment is exemplified by the completion of a 140,000-square-foot facility in just 34 days.
