RENOVATION OF OCCUPIED SCHOOLS

Working with architects and planners, Parsons develops multiphase plans for each school addition and renovation project to minimize interference with students, teachers, and administrators. We prepare the construction schedule based on alternative classroom availability so that construction does not interfere with the learning process. Work schedules are carefully planned to minimize disruption, and balanced to maximize efficiency and minimize overall cost. Parsons enforces strict safety requirements. During the school year, contractors work after school hours and diligently keep the site free of construction debris.

For example, the Palomar Community College District's San Marcos campus' utilities were outdated and insufficient for the growing student population. The project consisted of removing existing utilities and installing modern systems including domestic water, fire suppression water, irrigation well water, sanitary sewer, stormwater drainage, natural gas, electrical, telephone, fiber optics, and landscaping with pathway lighting. By performing the work in 10 phases, we were able to integrate the new systems into existing utilities with minimal disruption to campus operations and student activities.
