LOGISTICS
The key to Parsons on-time delivery is detailed logistical planning and experienced base implementation. The logistics plan dictates that all personnel, materials, equipment, and supplies arrive at the jobsite on time or just-in-time and in proper condition.
During the screening study, the most probable critical cost and scheduling elements are determined, the critical path is established, and work-arounds are planned. Availability of large international barges, tugs, rail, open truck lanes, site accessibility, storage, and assembly areas are prime considerations.
A recommended checklist for international projects includes appropriate export packaging, paper work, customs clearance information, lay-down areas, and local transportation to the jobsite. The logistics plan details each procurement action and the best and most effective method of moving the materials to the site.
Our know-how includes management of freight-forwarders, inspection, customs, and taxation details. We secure special highway permits and bridge right-of-ways for transporting heavy or oversized equipment. Parsons has extensive logistics experience in remote locations such as Alaska, the Middle East, Siberia, and Bosnia where construction schedules are impacted by seasons, import customs, access and materials availability.
