"Employing Parsons has provided the Postal Service a high level of quality and consistency in the construction of the APC facility modifications throughout the Pacific Area." Martin Petrey, Postal Service Pacific Facilities Service Office Project Manager
Project Description
The United States Postal Service (USPS) selected Parsons to provide nationwide program management for all postal facilities, from small, local post offices to extremely large processing & distribution centers. This is the first time that all program management services have been placed under one company. Gathering all of these services under one provider enables the USPS to deliver facilities faster and more efficiently.
Under a nationwide task order, Parsons designed and constructed facility alterations to accommodate new Automated Postal Center (APC) machines at more than 500 locations in the western U.S. These machines weigh packages, offer a variety of mailing options, provide postage labels, and accept payment with credit cards, which allows post office customers to avoid lines at the counter.
The program was successfully implemented with a tight budget and narrow schedule, without a single safety incident over the life of the program. The addition of the APCs has been well received by the public, and the Postal Service has been pleased with the results of greater efficiency and improved customer satisfaction.
The USPS program addresses the complete life cycle of all facilities, from acquisition of new property, through design and construction, to disposal of aged or excess facilities. Parsons is working closely with all stakeholders to achieve optimal results in facility design.
