"...I want to commend you and your staff for an outstanding 'zero defect' response to this massive undertaking, which was done in record time. This is an amazing accomplishment and one that deserves our recognition and applause." Dan Draper, FAA Southern Regional Administration Technical Officer
Project Overview
As prime contractor on the Technical Support Services contract, Parsons is tasked with modernizing and improving hundreds of FAA facilities across the nation. The program includes upgrading navigational and security technologies and systems across all nine regions of the U.S and its territories. Parsons is managing and performing all systems upgrades, including air traffic control towers, air route traffic control centers, runway landing systems, and navigational systems for the Directional Airspace System.
Parsons has received several safety commendations from the FAA for completing over 2 million man-hours on the TSSC program without a lost-time accident.
Services involve site preparation, facility modification, equipment maintenance and repair, installation, integration, and testing of new and existing technologies in operating systems and facilities. A significant number of tasks are aimed at improving air traffic security such as access control, alarm annunciation, closed circuit television, and perimeter intrusion detection systems.
The jobsites range from busy urban airports to remote communication and navigation stations on Alaskan mountaintops. Much of the work is carried on in occupied facilities and active airports, requiring seamless planning and scheduling to allow safe operation.
