Remediation Project Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Project manager will act as Parsons Representative with the client, regulatory officials, and subcontractors during the various phases of a large, multi-site remediation program in Central New York. Provide direction and management for design and construction activities being conducted on multiple sites; negotiate changes to the scope of work with the client and key subcontractors, and work to secure additional work with the client. Responsible for following up on instructions and commitments associated with all aspects of assigned projects.
- Participate in negotiations with regulatory agencies and in public meetings in support of the client. Provide weekly project status updates to appropriate client and regulatory representatives and communicate/negotiate project level field changes with regulatory agencies as required.
- Plan, direct, supervise, and control the execution of all business, technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the assigned project(s). Assign responsibility for executing project plans to key subordinates after careful assessment of how to utilize their qualifications and strengths. Provide input to performance reviews and development plans for subordinates.
- Work with the program director, other managers, project engineers, and discipline leads to develop budgets, schedules, and plans for the various elements of a project. Ensure that the project meets or exceeds goals established in these plans.
- Work with the key project individual to devise and execute actions plans to rectify potential cost overruns or delays, or to accommodate significant changes to the scope of work. Advise the client and company management of any such changes.
- The Project Manager is specifically responsible for maintaining current and timely change orders.
- Candidate must also implement behavior-based safety tools to strive for incident free operations (no personal injuries, property damage or environmental releases) for both the Client and Parsons.
- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
4-year degree in Engineering (or related field) and 12 - 15 years of experience, a broad general engineering background, and previous project management experience on large environmental projects involving heavy civil work is required. Sediment remediation experience is preferred.
New York State Professional Engineer registration is preferred. Proven ability to perform in a management capacity, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are required. Must also possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on project.
