Parsons Parsons

Project Description

The Orange County Sanitation engaged Parsons to evaluate existing instrumentation and control systems in order to increase automation levels and improve an asset management system. The District operates the third largest treatment system west of the Mississippi River, serving over 2.4 million people.

We documented the existing instrumentation and control systems in order to develop the Intergraph plant design system piping and instrumentation diagram database to identify of process equipment and instrumentation in the District's two plants. This database integrates the plant control system, the computerized maintenance management system, and the asset management system databases. The maintenance management system alone contains over 75,000 records.

After selecting assets to be included in the asset management system, we installed more than 35,000 physical asset and process equipment tags throughout the two plants. Equipment standardization has helped the District improve operational efficiency and provide greater safety.
